In 1933, the Kimball Theater opened with the help of John D. Rockefeller Jr., who had just finished construction on another theater, Radio City Music Hall. Although smaller than its New York counterpart, the Kimball Theater soon became a central hub for Williamsburg. The theater was recently acquired by the College of William & Mary.
